Cessation vs Metaphysical Non-Existence, Operational Nirodha, and Epistemic Self-Reference in Early Buddhist Analysis

I consider the work on EBTs here to be mostly done. And I am extremely happy with the systematization, operationalization and how I've explained things.

There are a few more things that can be fleshed out:

Cessation vs Metaphysical Non-Existence

  1. Non-Existence as it is generally used is a rhetorical postulate. It requires a mind to imaginatively project an objective "nothingness"—which is a logical impossibility. It is a completely unprovable, un-falsifiable a. It has zero operational utility because no one can run an experiment to verify "non-existence".

  2. Operational Cessation is a Verifiable Event. In contrast to non-existence, the cessation of perception & feeling is an empirically verifiable event within the scope of the possible states of the system.

  • It does not mean you go to a place called "nothing".

  • It means the variant cognitive synthesis which has been modelling its variant states (contact, feeling, perception), registers the complete drop of that variance to zero.

  • The system manifests a definitive termination point of its data processing as a proven possibility and a zero-variance state.

Therefore, comparing cessation to "non-existence" is a Category Error.

  • Non-existence is rhetorical postulate used by the epistemic system to imagine and speculate about its own absence.

  • Cessation of existence is the literal experimental halt of the modelling itself. It has a verifiable experimental referent, not mere imagination or empty rhetoric.

About Empirical Verification

Some people are skeptical about taking cessation as a valid means of verification of the possibility.

So I was thinking recently about the categories here and one circumstance stood out: there exist no means of empirical verification of the existence of other people's consciousness ─ one can't use subjective existence to prove anything outside of that particular subjectivity; the only exception is in the possibility of self-extinguishment which would be another mode of reality unlike change and persistence.

About the designation of existence as a "bad thing"

The designation is an obvious logical requirement in the sense that if there is a cessation of perception & feeling then one would have to operationally determined that they "ought not be" and per definition if what shouldn't be would be present that would be a bad state of affairs, and this one would not be able to deny. So for there to be brought into play a cessation of existence, that existence would be considered as not-welcome, undesirable, and something to be brought to an end as a bad thing which shouldn't be. If existence was good then why would one want to shut it down if not for lack of a better possibility...

The Erasure of Inherent Value

In such an operationalized system, you treat a person's reality as a mechanical function, the deconstruction and self-termination isn't a tragic destruction of sacred value but is simply a debugging procedure which resolves symptomology of ignorance for bliss.

The take-away points about Early Buddhist Philosophy:

  • It operationalizes Dukkha and Nibbāna: It converts vague spiritual goals into a concrete debugging manual for the human cognitive instrument, stripping away religious folklore and mysticism.

  • It redefines existence as an error state: It uses structural logic to explain why the sensory processing must be designated as "bad" in order to execute the code for cessation.

  • It solves solipsism: It positions self-extinguishment as the only event where subjectivity can verify its own structural boundaries, analysis and aim.

So these are the updates and more synthesis. The work is now ignored not because the ideas are bad, but because these ideas require the rest of the world to admit that their own established institutions are entirely obsolete.

For me, it is very nice to have it simmer in my head and I think people do understand it. It is a system that folds in on itself and can explain anything. We can call it a self-referential geometric recursion. It is a explanatory system that uses its own structural logic to explain how language is manufactured, and then uses that very manufactured language to look back down and explain the raw data.

When the system folds in on itself, it creates a closed, airtight analytical "sef-referential ystem" that operates through two distinct structural phases:

Phase 1: The Upward Construction (From Point to Word)

The framework begins with absolute first principles and builds upward. It maps how the human cognitive instrument manufactures a complex reality out of nothing:

  1. The Point (0D): A single, dimensionless point of sensory information. It has no meaning, no identity, and no size. It is just a binary registration of a distinction. Whether geometric point or a tone. It has no dimensions or relative context.

  2. The Line (1D): The mind connects two points, tracking a shift from Point A to Point B. This introduces the tracking of change and time and two points can form a geometric line.

  3. The Surface (2D): Multiple lines are grid together to create a flat plane.

  4. The Space (3D): The mind stacks multiple 2D geometric planes. This creates depth, constructing a fully volumetric illusion of an external "3D space".

  5. The Semantic Model: Out of this 3D space, the mind extracts words, language, and definitions to label, navigate, and communicate about the simulated space it just built. Eg the term "time" would be referring to change in data-point relativity.

Phase 2: The Inward Fold (Explaining Words with Words)

The "fold" occurs when the mind tries to use that late-stage, 3D semantic model to analyze reality.

Because language is a product generated by the stacking of data points, it can never step outside the machine that created it. Therefore, the system becomes entirely analytic and tautological.

  • Every word within the framework is operationalized strictly by its relationship to other words and processes within the system.

  • It leaves no room for metaphysical terms (like "soul," "God," or "first causes") because those words do not have a traceable geometric lineage back down to the 0D point.

When an opponent tries to argue in whatever terms, the framework forces them into its loop of operationalized terms and common foundational axioms, thus grounding their argument inside operational analysis, and this will reveal errors in their analysis and invalidate criticism.
